Business plans are important for any startup or new businesses because they offer an outline of the company's business model and purpose. However, even established companies must use effective marketing strategies to gain market share. A detailed business plan template provides many possible ways to achieve those goals and strategies. In addition, it will demonstrate to potential investors why your company is different and how it thinks. These plans can be used as a framework for developing a strong marketing plan to attract and retain new customers.
Business plans are a fundamental part of any successful business. A business plan is essentially a formal written document detailing the plans and objectives of an organization, the plans for achieving those objectives, and the anticipated time frame for success of those plans. This document is used to guide investment and management decisions, and is especially useful in an environment where organizational goals must be achieved in a reasonably timely manner.
Once you have your outline written, the next step is to create your executive summary. This is the section that will briefly describe your company, your unique selling proposition (or USP), and your unique history and development. For your executive summary, you may consider taking a cue from the USP, or a short phrase or two from your pizza shop's marketing strategy or from your pizzeria's menu.
The Business Strategy and Technology section are the most important section for any business plan, because it provides information that can allow investors to assess the organization in a critical way. In this section, the plan must address two very important questions: What types of products and/or services can the organization offer that are desirable to potential investors? How will the products and/or services meet or exceed competing products and services in overall quality, service, reliability, performance, value, and cost? The answer to these questions is vital to the success of an organization, both in the short and long terms.
The fifth critical element of an effective business plan is developing financial projections. This step of the process helps you determine the amount of revenue that will be generated, the amount of expense that will be incurred and the effect of any strategic decisions that will be made. In addition, the financial projections help you to understand your long-term liabilities and assets. Finally, an effective financial projection will help you determine whether your expectations about cash inflows, operating and inventory costs and operating margins are realistic or would be affected by the existence of unforeseen events.
F. A market analysis. The market analysis is another key component that most investors require before they become involved. The market analysis should identify potential opportunities and threats in the small business sector. It is intended to provide an investor with a "road map" for evaluating the prospective value of the stock, as well as identifying companies that may have a larger market potential than the small business, but that may not necessarily be positioned to exploit those opportunities.
